jesus christ uberstar

This video, created for The Mystery Hour, started…let’s see, did it start with the wordplay, or start with the concept? It’s hard to say at this point. The point is, there is a lot of humor to be had with Jesus as an Uber driver.

quick analysis

An underrated aspect of any comedic video is rhythm, a close cousin of timing. Timing is more about how the punchline lands, or where the edit is, but rhythm is about the rhythm of the entire piece. Jesus Christ Uberstar is a series of jokes under the simple umbrella of an Uber ride. They would be fine if they were simply told one after another, but having the rhythm of knowing you are going back to a goofy refrain after each joke really seals the deal. All of that is, of course, on top of the very silly and fun idea of Jesus as an Uber driver.
